Gooseberries come in many colours, sizes, and sweetness levels. They are one of the favourite fruits we grow, producing many kilos of fruit for very little effort.
The sweetest gooseberries can be eaten raw, with a flavour similar to grapes. Other varieties have a sharp taste and are at the best turned into jam and crumbles.
All bushes are best protected with a net. Birds love them too!
