It was a happy sight to lift the plastic and see the broad beans growing underneath. They are looking healthy too. The aim is to keep the beans protected from freezing winds and insects, accelerating the harvest. If they hit the top of the cloche too soon I will remove it and cover the plants with fleece.
The only negative comment I can make is that the weeds are germinating too. In about a week’s time when the weeds are a little bigger, I will lift up the cloches to hoe around the plants.
