Our globe artichoke is looking in great condition thanks to the warm winter. Unfortunately, I have also noticed that the grass is growing and the weeds are gaining height over the unprotected beds.

One of my tasks over the next few weeks will be to dig over the beds and protect with ground cover fabric. Otherwise, spring will be spent trying to control a ‘jungle’, rather than germinating seeds (and enjoying asparagus).
